Description:

U.S. Patent number dates 1938. Victor 20-1665-B record. SIDE A: Hitler's Letter to Hirohito, SIDE B: Hirohito's Letter to Hitler. Each side is an imagined "letter" from each of them sung in a kind of very sarcastic and very bombastic song. Not only is there a lot of rhyme but many of the events of the war in Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan are mentioned. it is a very interesting snapshot of history and propaganda efforts back then. these popular songs were meant to encourage a sense of US vs THEM. One of the unintended consequences, of course, led to the Japanese internment camps on American soil, of course. Another is that racial stereotypes were reinforced by popular cultural which then allowed such attitudes to be considered acceptable in the public discourse. A great history lesson is in these songs.
