The Cambridge Glass Company introduced its "Crown Tuscan" color line in September 1932. Highly coveted "Nude stem" or "Statuesque" figural pieces featuring shell shapes launched heavily starting in 1935. Created by chemist Henry T. Hellmers, Crown Tuscan is an elegant, opaque-to-translucent pink "milk glass" matrix. It features a rich, creamy, flesh-like tone with thin, slightly opalescent transparent edges. Large Centerpiece Bowl (#5540 / Flying Nude) A heavy, swept-back lobed shell bowl where the nude figure is molded dynamically onto the front/side curve of the shell.
