Buster Brown is a character created by Richard Outcault in 1902, which was adopted as the Buster Brown Shoes mascot it 1904.The character included his American Pit Bull Terrier dog "Tige". Buster Brown run as a comic strip for many years after 1902, but it was adopted by Buster Brown shoes much later. This has to be from 1943 or later, as it was in that year that the radio personality Smilin' Ed McConnell started his program in the West Coast NBC Radio Network. The show included other characters, besides Buster Brown and Tige, other characters: Froggy The Gremlin and Midnight The Cat, which also appear on the handkerchief. There are also a "piano man" and a mouse, of which we know nothing at this time. Smilin' Ed is in the center motif, with its old fashion microphone.
