Description:

Many posters to raise money for Liberty Loan bonds promoted German hatred. This one shows a blood-thirsty German/Hun looking over war-torn Europe and across the Atlantic Ocean to America. The Liberty Bond posters were inflammatory, but highly effective. Americans would purchase more than $23 billion worth to help the war effort. Frederick Strothmann (1879-1958) was born in Philadelphia. He studied at the Carl Hecker Art School in New York City, the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, the Berlin Royal Academy and in Paris. For much of his life he lived in Flushing, NY. We describe all items to the best of our ability as we are not experts on everything.
