At Buckland's Mill, Captain Glazier's horse was shot from beneath him and he was ridden over in a Confederate charge which knocked him senseless. Fourteen months of incarceration within Confederate prison camps followed together with a daring escape and bid for freedom, recapture, and trial as a spy. His prison locations included Richmond (Libby), Danville, Macon, Savannah, Charleston, Columbia, Belle Isle, Millin, Salisbury and Andersonville. He describes arrival of prisoners, plans of escape, numerous and varied incidents of prison life, the author's escape from Columbia, S.C. and his recapture, subsequent escape and recapture, trial as spy, and final and successful escape from Sylvania, Georgia. The book is beautifully bound in dark green pebbled cloth with a bright gold decorated embossed design of lilies surrounding the title, the title is within a gold banner wrapped around a U.S. Flag on the spine, and the embossed cover design. 446 page, including an Appendix of Officers of the United States Army and Navy , Prisoners of War, Libby Prison, Richmond, Va , an Appendix of Additional List of Prisoners at Macon, Savannah, Charleston, Columbia, Charlotte, Raleigh, and Goldsboro.
