Description:

The American Physician; Being a New System of Practice, Founded on Botany is an early 19th-century medical handbook written by David Rogers and published in 1824 in Rochester, New York. Original physical copies from the 1824 Rochester printing by H. Leavenworth are exceptionally rare antiquarian items. Surviving original editions are primarily preserved in high-level historical archives, such as the National Library of Medicine Digital Collections. While unique to Rogers, the philosophy closely mirrors the Thomsonian system created by Samuel Thomson, which taught that the human body could heal naturally if treated with local, organic, and heat-inducing indigenous plants.
