Star Wars was re-released on August 15, 1979, for three weeks to hype the upcoming Empire Strikes Back movie release the following June. This poster has the tagline at the top saying, "It's Back!". Underneath the top tagline is the Star Wars logo in silver with the Tom Jung characters embedded in the design. Below the logo is another tagline that touted, "The Force will be with you for three weeks only.". In the middle of the one-sheet is a red banner proclaiming coming attractions for the new feature film Empire Strikes Back and also promoting a free Kenner discount booklet giveaway for the new upcoming toy lines. At the bottom of the poster, in silver lettering, is the cast and credits section, all printed on the blue background of the poster. You will also find the Black Falcon Ltd. trademark at the bottom center. {Black Falcon Ltd. was a subsidiary of Lucasfilm Ltd. that was formed in February 1978 to handle the merchandising for Star Wars. Black Falcon was mainly used in 1979 on various merchandise items including books, cassettes, bedsheets, curtains, and promotional photographs. Suzy Rice and Kathie Broyles developed the new logo for this subsidiary company. The company was short-lived, however, and merchandise began to be licensed under the Lucasfilm Ltd. name once again by the second half of 1979. On December 1, 1979, Black Falcon Ltd. completely merged back into Lucasfilm Ltd. The Black Falcon Ltd. markings only show up on a couple of theatrical/marketing press kit pieces during this time period.} (See pics below) Interesting Note* - this poster wasn't made into any other theatrical sizes (e.g. Insert, Half-sheet, 30 x 40, etc.). All the other re-release trilogy posters had various NSS formats.. This collectible poster is not a reprint or reproduction.
