Actual Surveys by S. N. Beers. Published by A. R. Z. Dawson, Philadelphia, 1859. An extremely rare 1859 wall map of the Ontario County in New York State in unusually good condition. from an S. N. Beers survey. This is not a reprint - this is the actual 1859 canvas-backed wall map. The Beers, a family of well-known cartographers, published more than 125 atlases in the mid- to late 1800s. In addition to the county map, there are 29 town and village street plan insets which are individually colored: Naples Reeds Corners Geneva Shortsville Phelps Rushville Orleans Seneca Castle Oaks Corners Clifton Springs Manchester Bristol Corners Capinville Gorham Port Gibson Flint Creek Unionville Centerfield North Bloomfield, P.O. Victor East Victor New Salem East Bloomfield West Bloomfield Baptist Hill Cheshire Honeoye. Also includes excerpts from the Canandaigua and Geneva Business Directories as well as 10 engraved illustrations: Water Cure, Clifton Springs Residence of J. Trissler, M.D., Phelps Residence of S. H. Ainsworth, Nurseryman, West Bloomfield Residence of Carso Crane, Phelps Residence of S. E. Norton, Phelps Residence of J. C. Hathaway, Farmington Residence of John J. Bush, Hopewell Residence of Hervey Fowler, Gorham Court House, Canandaigua Residence of Wm. H. Van Colt, Victor. The map itself is 61" wide x 62" long and ~65" when the black wood rods are included (they are both still well attached). Looks better than shown by my handheld digital photos.
