Presented to Veterans Post by Congressman W.B. Hooker. 12” X 17” (image) Confederate forces captured by the Army of West Miss., April 9, 1865 . Depicts the position & approaches by the Union forces along the Blakely River. The Union positions are hand tinted in blue and the Confederate positions are red. Includes roads, vegetation as well as positions held by the 4th Mass, 2nd Conn., 17th Ohio, etc. Engraved by the United States Army Engineering Department, 1865. Housed under glass in the original 19” X 23” solid oak frame as originally presented to the Veterans Post shortly after the war. Includes copy of original letter as well as the insert from the Office of the Chief Engineers US Army

  • Condition: Light overall toning. Scattered foxing from age. Glass is broken in the lower left corner. Suggest glass be replaced and also a more attractive mat that will complement this historical document
