Long considered one of the best sources on 19th century New York City history, Valentine Manuals ran 1841 to 1870. They are typically well stocked with maps and many charming illustrations of buildings and places in Old New York. This volume is particularly rich in illustrations, including The Nicolls Map, Metropolitan Police Head Quarters, Theological Seminary, Jackson Ferry, and a View of Harlem from Morisiania. There are also several portraits of prominent New Yorkers of that time.
