Henry Vander Velde, American (1913-1997) Listed Michigan and California artist. Henry was from a long line of Dutch painters. He began painting at an early age under the supervision of his mother, Hanny, who was a graduate of the Royal Academy of Rotterdam. After graduating from the University of Michigan, Vander Velde studied at the NAD. He later moved to southern California and was assistant professor of art at Long Beach College. He then established a studio-home in Avalon on Catalina Island where he taught private classes and was president of the local art association. Fall landscape circa 1940's, oil on 12" X 16" Newton Canvas Board. Housed in an original solid oak period frame. We describe all items to the best of our ability as we are not experts on everything.
