Certificate of Authenticity on back Societe de Verification de la Nouvelle Gravure Internationale of New York and Paris certifies and warrants that this is an original lithograph numbered and limited to an edition of 275, created and individually signed by the artist. The Society further verifies that each lithographic stone has been defaced after the limited edition was completed. A biography of the artist is also attached. It depicts a group of houses on the water, boats in a pond or river, and a landscape foreground with trees and brush. The artists father was an expert in the pottery of the Near East, and this work, like many of Casatis works, shows the influence that Asian art had on him. Colors are primarily light pastel colors of greens, browns, and rusts. Artist/Info: Claude Casati was born in Paris in 1921 to an Italian father and French mother. As a young man, he toured the world, returning to the Normandy Coast, where he painted the harbors, towns, and rolling Hills of the NW coast of France. He may take one color and explore its many hues. A creation with seven shades of green for example, is not uncommon. His use of line is sparse and delicate he uses it only to define his scenes. He was strongly influenced by Asian art, and this work reflects this interest. Casati has exhibited throughout Europe and his collections may be found throughout the world.
