Description:

A fascinating 2 page letter written in sepia ink, on watermarked stationary from Nashville, Tennessee, August 8th, 1865. The letter mentions the "excitement" that is taking place there over the trial of Champ Ferguson, accused of the murder of countless Union Soldiers and Civilians! Ferguson became a Confederate Folk Hero and was eventually found guilty and hung for killing as many as 100 people! After the verdict was read he made a well known statement "I repeat that I die a Rebel out and out.....and request my body to be buried in good Rebel soil" Condition: the sepia ink is dark and legible.
