Signed lower right. Charles Frederick Whitney (1858 - 1949) was active/lived in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine. Charles Whitney is known for Illustrator, landscape painter, drawing. Charles Frederick Whitney was born in Pittston, Maine on June 18, 1858. A painter, illustrator and art teacher, he studied at the Massachusetts State Normal Art School. He specialized in watercolor landscapes and seascapes of the Eastern United States. Whitney published several books used in art instruction, and taught at the Wheelock School in Boston, Massachusetts. He also taught at the Summer Camp (Camp Vision) at Tamworth, New Hampshire. He exhibited widely in the New England area during his career. He also studied at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts School. His works are held in their collection. In 1934 he was living in Danvers, Massachusetts. The exact date of his death is not known.
