Charles Ephraim Burchfield (American, 1893-1967) "Sunflowers and Red Barn." It is on wove paper and it has been linen backed, edition unknown, printed signature in the lower left, ca. 1942. This rendering features a large garden of sunflowers in front of the artist’s barn in Salem, Ohio. This rare serigraph was printed in the 1942 by American Living Art Inc.; and possibly was an edition of only fifty, based on other limited editions works produced by this company. Charles Burchfield was famous for his nature scenes, and his work is on display in many world renowned institutions, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Smithsonian American Art Museum, the Carnegie Museum of Art, and the largest collection of his works on display in the Burchfield Penney Art Center.
