Signed lower left. Original watercolor landscape and lake, signed ‘AW Moore.’ Painting is circa 1890. Arthur William Moore: Born in Nottingham, England. Educated in the Parker and Nottingham Art schools. He settled in Rochester in 1881. In Rochester, he worked as a journalist. He joined the art club in 1889, and was appointed secretary in 1894 and remained secretary until his death in 1913. An enthusiastic supporter of the arts, Mr. Moore was instrumental in developing support for the art club and for the construction of a permanent art gallery in Rochester. As the art editor for the Rochester Post Express, he provided invaluable publicity for art and the art club. Throughout the turn of the century, Rochester artists enjoyed having articles with pictures or their work displayed.
