Description:

Dating to circa 1865 this splendid piece probably hails from the Dudson factory. This listing is for a very large pottery Jasperware cheese dome and underplate featuring hunting scenes. The borders are given equal attention, being finished with superb garlands of intertwined oak leaves and branches, loaded with acorns. The color is mocha brown. English made,. Rope style finial. What an absolutely fabulous hard to find 19th Century soft brown and white Jasperware Stilton cheese dome and underplate, no maker’s mark. Josiah Wedgwood developed an unglazed “biscuit” finish referred to as Jasperware in the late 1700’s, which is still being manufactured today. This “statement piece” would be a lovely addition to any decor.
