Very old and primitive traditional “silent bells” silver Payal anklet or bracelet. These were worn for wedding ceremonies in India and are still a custom used to this day. Each silver bead is cut, hammered, rounded and soldered back together talking immense time to create. Some were treated and darkened as this one was. These are often compared to or mistaken as Navajo Indian “desert pearls” because of the similarities. Circa mid 1800’s to early 1900’s. Has a simple eye hook closure. Will fit a 7” ankle or wrist and measures 3/4” wide, and weighs a heavy 44 grams.
