Description:

American Lithographic Co., New York. Poster showing a soldier holding a child and embracing a woman. This poster was part of the final "Victory" loan drive, which took place around the time of the November 1918 armistice. While previous Liberty Loans funded the ongoing fighting, the Victory Liberty Loan was used to pay for the massive costs of demobilization, soldier repatriation, and post-war reconstruction. Orr's design successfully pivoted the propaganda narrative from the fear of the enemy to the joyous celebration of homecoming and family security.
