12" tall, high quality, heavy composition (feels and sounds like solid metal), World War I, "LIBERTY BOY", American soldier doll manufactured by the Ideal Novelty & Toy Co., Brooklyn, N.Y., circa 1917. He has the incised signature on the back at his waist: Ideal in a diamond. He was made to celebrate Ideal's tenth anniversary of doll making as well as to honor our American HERO soldiers. face is flesh-tinted with boyish features and excellent color, his hands are flesh-tinted and his molded hair is side-parted. He wears a very detailed, molded-on, brown doughboy uniform, boots, black tie, U.S. Army lapels, belt and black buttons.
