Vintage J A Henckels 12.5” carbon steel chef knife, hand forged, hand ground carbon steel with signature two pins and one cutlers rivet handle. Grand Prize Paris 1900 St Louis 1904. This is the professional high end quality Chef's knife produced from the famous city of blade Solingen in Germany. Solingen is renowned for manufacturing of fine swords, knives, scissors, and razors. Zwilling ( J.A. Henckels’s predecessor ) was founded by Peter Henckels in 1731 in Solingen, Germany. On 13 June 1731 Peter Henckels registered the " Zwilling or Twin in German " logo with the Cutler’s Guild of Solingen. This makes Zwilling one of the oldest trademarks in the world. In 1771, his son, Johann Abraham Henckels renamed the company to J.A. HENCKELS after himself. It was well-known for making professional knives and kitchen accessories with the highest possible quality and function all over the world. It has many principal trade names including J. A.
