Gilbert Maranville Office Drop Calendar Clock. Large sized 14 in. paper dial, comprised of 3 discs. the front disc contains the chapter ring with black Roman hour numerals and outer ring with 31 date calendar signed Wm. L. Gilbert Clock Co. Winsted, Ct. has cutouts for the second disc containing the sequential days of the week with Sunday highlighted in red and finally a cutout at the top exposing the months; the red date indicator moves automatically while the clock is running and the rear dials are manually adjusted at each months end, dials have some typical wear from age. Has a brass 8 day movement with recoil escapement, hour strike on a coiled gong, brass covered pendulum bob and wood stick. In a walnut case having a crest with fancy scroll carvings, leaf, rosette and cornucopia carving below, reverse painted lower door glass and lower crest with sea shell carving.
