Manufactured by the Fulper Pottery Company in Flemington, New Jersey, this specific form highlights the technical mastery of their signature Vasekraft line. The line combined heavy, classical silhouettes with innovative, molten-effect glazes. This lamp base features a sculptural, symmetrical body punctuated by two integrated ring handles. Unlike studio pottery that was thrown by hand, Fulper utilized specialized molds to cast these complex architectural shapes, which were specifically produced with factory-made holes to accommodate electrical wiring. Fulper is legendary for its vibrant flambé and crystalline drip glazes. These finishes intentionally mimicked rare ancient Chinese ceramics. A multi-colored glazeoften incorporating shades of running blue, rich purple, moss green, or rosewas applied to cascade down the ribbed or smooth shoulders of the vessel, resulting in a unique flame-like drip effect on every single piece. While the iconic Vasekraft line officially launched in 1909, it evolved significantly into the 1920's under the influence of famed ceramic engineer J. Martin Stangl. Stangl refined the factorys glaze recipes and forms, striking a commercially successful balance between organic Art Nouveau styling and the structural geometry of early Art Deco.
