Description:

The H.D. Beach Co. started business in 1901 in Coshocton, Ohio. In 1904, Henry Beach applied for a patent of a "Metal Plaque" intended for ornamental advertising purposes. The patent was granted in 1905 for a two layer plate, front and back, crimped together at the outer edges. Most of the portraits on these plates were close copies of hand painted portraits on porcelain ones made by Royal Vienna and other makers. The plate on which you are bidding features rich colors and depicts a young woman with long, light brown hair and blue eyes. She is wearing a red gown and hoop earrings and has a decorative headdress/turban. The border of the plate is cobalt blue with a gold and silver ornamental design. The back of the plate is off-white and has the Vienna Art Plates stamp in the center. Inside the stamp is also the patent date: "Feb. 21st/ 1905".
