Measures 4.5" long with ribbon, 3" wide. medal for the 1899 86th annual conclave, that was held in Syracuse, New York, for the Knights Templar. The Knights Templar originated shortly after the first crusade, around 1119. The original Knights Templar were the elite fighting force of their day. The medal has two parts connected by two short chains. The top pin back bar is in a barrel looking shape and on the barrel it reads SEPT - 1899 - 25-27 and 86TH - ANNUAL CONCLAVE - SYRACUSE. The top bar looks to be bronze and on the back it is stamped HORSTMANN. When original there was a ribbon attached to this bar. One side at the rim reads CENTRAL CITY COMMANDERY - NO 25 K.T. In the center it has a cross with a circle in the center. On the arms of the cross it reads KNIGHTS TEMPLAR. On the circle it reads CENTRAL CITY - SYRACUSE N.Y. On the bottom of the cross it has the number 25. On the reverse at the rim it reads GRAND COMMANDERY : K.T. STATE OF N.Y. In the center it has a masonic symbol.
