Description: Blickensderfer Typewriter Company , Stamford, Conn , USA. In 1891, George C. Blickensderfer (1850-1917) invented a small portable writing machine that featured the ability to change type styles at will. This unique design formed the basis of a typewriter manufacturing business that lasted almost thirty years. Models 1, 2, & 3 apparently were made in very limited numbers because none have been found to date. The Model No. 5, introduced in 1893 at the Columbian Exposition, was manufactured for many years and sold primarily to price conscious buyers. The Model 7, offered in 1897, became the deluxe version of the basic design. Both models evolved with time and were quite popular. This particular example was assembled in Britain and is known as the "London Blick".Please ask specific questions on details, condition, and shipping prior to bidding, ALL ITEMS ARE SOLD AS IS, and the bidder will be responsible for payment.
