Lot 178
Austrian Empire Era (18951905): If the back features the JM monogram, the model number 9529, and the word "Musterschutz" (copyright protection), it was made during the height of the studio's Orientalist production. The factory was located in Aussig, which was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire at the time. Produced in Aussig an der Elbe, Bohemia (now the Czech Republic), this large-scale wall plaque represents the height of Victorian Orientalisma design movement that fascinated Western collectors with highly stylized, dramatic depictions of Middle Eastern, North African, and Arabian cultures.
