Henrietta “Reka” Johnson Underkircher (b. 1879, d. 1968). Reka (aka Henrietta) Jansen was born in Ratzel near Uelsen, in the Bentheim region of Germany. She was the eighth of the ten children born to Berend and Leide (Koyer) Jansen. She emigrated to the US in January, 1886 with her family. Her surname became "Johnson" as the family acclimated themselves to life in the United States. She married Charles Irwin Underkircher on July 17, 1900 in Allegan, MI, and was the mother of one son: Gerald Underkircher; and two daughters: Lucille Underkircher and Louise Underkircher VanderMeer.
