Lot of 6 antique 1860's albumen photos depicting early views of Amsterdam. All nice dark contrast and clear. One market scene has policeman/military men with Stove-top hats, women in Civil war hoop skirt dresses etc. Views include 1. Amstel Hotel. opened in 1866 (Now known as the InterContinental Amstel Hotel). 2. Signal Canal, which served as the original moat around the city. 3. Zuiderkerk a 17th Century Church painted by Claude Monet. 4. Reguliersgracht Canal or also known as the "Seven Bridges Canal" 5. Reguliersgracht which is now Chinatown and the Lastage Neighborhood. 6. Nieuwmarkt and Waag Building. A central city market area with a Medieval building, which during WWll was used by the Nazis.
