The first of three "Anne" books by this author, this novel for juvenile readers is backgrounded against "a vivid picture of life in Albany among those who direct the government of the great state of New York." The Foreword is by Eleanor Roosevelt, who calls the author "my friend." Mrs. Fayerweather came by her knowledge of the workings of the New York State government honestly: her husband served in the administration of Franklin D. Roosevelt when he was Governor of the state, and the couple lived in Albany from 1929 to 1934.
