Description:

Published by Toronto: Radisson Society, 1925. Revised and best edition combining the first two editions of 1875 and 1879. It contains 412 pages. Illustrations, bibliography. Original red cloth, gilt-lettered spine As a young Presbyterian minister from Halifax, Grant joined Sir Sandford Fleming on an historic expedition commissioned by the Canadian government to coordinate the work of survey parties for the Canadian Pacific Railway, check the best pass through the Rockies, and confirm the railway line across the prairies. The Expedition crossed the Rocky Mountains by the Yellow Head Pass, journeyed along the north Thompson River to Kamloops, and from there to Yale and the Pacific. This work is a record of the everyday travels and adventures of the survey party as they journeyed across the Continent. Ultimately, Fleming's proposed route through the Rockies was not used.
