The American edition is a substantially different book from the London edition, entirely reset, with a larger page size and the contents. The colour plates are the same large size as the London deluxe edition, printed on plain plate paper, omitting the Old Mother Goose plate, which instead forms the basis of the front cover design. The title page is a sampler design printed in colour that is not in the English edition. Latimore & Haskell pp. 40-41; Riall pp. 115-16. Quarto. Original black cloth, spine lettered in gilt, colour pictorial illustration of Old Mother Goose mounted on front cover.
