Description:

This is a superb and very scarce 1912 medal for a Representative to the "Great Sun Session", held in Stockton, California. The Improved Order of Red Men, was a secret society/fraternal organization that has its original roots going back to 1773. The original group of men in 1773 were all members of the Sons of Liberty, who of course were famous for the event known as the Boston Tea Party! They were dressed as Mohawk Indians and hence that was how it started with the "Red Men" values and branches were called "Tribes". At its height there were over 500,000 members. This medal retains over 95% of its original gold gilt and retains a beautiful and uncleaned luster (One may want to have it tested for gold content, as many if these early ones were gold filled or even 10k) Either way a fantastic example. The original pin on the reverse is in perfect working order as well. We describe all items to the best of our ability as we are not experts on everything.
