They were a new regiment that was captured at Harpers Ferry during the Antietam Campaign after they were exchanged they fought in almost every battle from Gettysburg to Appomattox with the Army of Potomac. Three unit members won the Medal of Honor at Gettysburg. The 126th New York Infantry is one of Fox's Fighting 300 Regiments. Willson includes an appendix containing a chronological record of the principal events in the history of the regiment, and the personal history of its officers and enlisted men. This copy was presented by a Captain in the regiment who was wounded at Gettysburg and then severely wounded at Petersburg enough to be discharged due to his wounds. Good+ copy of the first edition. 593 pages.
