Baron Frederic Trenck was a cunning soldier who served the Kind of Prussia, Frederick the Great. Trenck's wild behavior landed him into Magdeburg prison, where he spent for ten years. Upon his release, he travelled to Paris to watch the revolution, only to be guillotined two days before Robespierre, in response to rumors that he was an Austrian spy. English dramatist and poet translated Trenck's work into English.
